Family Orthodontics at Carroll Family Dental

Dentists like Dr. Carroll who are trained in cosmetic dentistry and orthodontics are increasingly able to offer family orthodontic care - meaning braces and clear, or invisible braces. Since orthodontic care also requires increased dental care during the treatment period, it makes sense to have a qualified dentist provide orthodontic treatment.

Invisalign is a wonderful alternative to braces and can be used in many cases in place of metal wire braces. Dr. Carroll specializes in cosmetic dentistry and family orthodontics, saving you money and unnecessary discomfort with clear braces.

Clear Braces vs Metal Braces

Once metal braces are affixed, they are on all day and night for anywhere from six months to three years. Regular visits are required to adjust and tighten the braces as the gradually move teeth into position. The wires that move the teeth into place are held in place by metal or ceramic brackets fastened to the teeth. Metal braces are able to move teeth faster than clear braces.

Clear braces, like Invisalign straighteners, can be removed at any time, usually just when eating, and are replaced after eating and brushing teeth. Instead of adjustments to the clear braces, a new set of aligners is made every week or two. The primary advantages of clear braces are comfort, since the aligners conform to your teeth, and the absence of metal wires across the teeth.

Teeth Straightening

Youth and adults who are good candidates for clear braces are simply in need of teeth straightening. Invisalign works very well for crooked teeth, gaps inbetween teeth and overjet, known as buck teeth. There are limitations to what clear braces can handle though. More severe conditions do require braces, and sometimes oral surgery. Carroll Family Dental
